1. Understand the three layers

Rating systems

  • Rating systems define how a response or result is interpreted—for example a numeric scale, choice scale, or measurement-to-score conversion.

Parameter Catalogue

  • Parameters are the individual items you collect: an evaluation criterion, test measurement, scouting criterion, or questionnaire question.

Report templates

  • Templates combine parameters into the structure used by an evaluation event, test event, scouting report, or questionnaire sendout.

The recommended order is: Rating system → Parameter → Report template → Downstream event or sendout.

2. Create or review a rating system

Open Report builder > Rating systems. Review an existing system or create one with a clear name, type, scale, and description. Use the preview to confirm how users will enter or interpret values.

3. Create or import a parameter

Open Parameter catalogue and choose one route:

  • create a custom parameter for a club-specific criterion; or

  • use Import parameters for standardized system metrics.

Choose the correct parameter type and rating or answer system. For questionnaire questions, keep the parameter name short because it appears in tables and charts; use the full question text for the recipient-facing wording.

4. Create the report template

  1. Open Report templates.

  2. Click Add report template.

  3. Enter the name and description.

  4. Select the correct feature: Player Evaluation, Performance Testing, External Scouting, or Questionnaire.

  5. Choose the relevant category where available.

  6. Save the template.

  7. Open it and add the required parameters.

  8. Organize groups and parameter order.

  9. Save and keep the template active.

Important: The selected feature controls where the template appears. A Performance Testing template will not be offered for Player Evaluations.

5. Verify the handoff

Open the intended downstream feature and begin its creation workflow. Confirm that the active template appears in the template selector before investing further time in data collection.

How this connects

Changing a rating system or parameter can affect every template that uses it. Changing a template affects future events or sendouts that select it. Results collected through those workflows appear in linked profiles, comparisons, and monitoring areas.

You are finished when:

You can explain the three Report Builder layers.

The template contains the intended parameter or parameters.

The active template appears in the correct downstream feature.
