Figure 8 drill

Set Up:

Use half a court and set up drill on both sides of the field for higher number of repetitions. Put a cone on the sideline (halfway of back zone) for red dig players to line up. Place one ball cart near the opposite sideline where the player/assistant in white will line up.

Execution:

The hitter (blue player) starts the drill by hitting/tossing the ball about 1-2m in front of the blue cone. The first red player reacts to the ball an steps into the dig, trying to play the ball into the blue target zone. After the dig the player lines up at the blue cone again. It's the next players turn. The blue player will alternate his hits to the left & right of the receiving player, forcing the red player to really step into the dig. Assistant player/coach (white player) passes the balls to the blue player to keep up the speed of this drill. Approx. 5 digs per player then rotate players or pick a new spot.
